Had an issue with my furnace, not running correctly and I thought it was short cycling so I called Bear Creek after having another HVAC contractor looked at it. Charge me $150 and didn't really fix the problem. The owner Kevin showed up and was able to identify the issue had a short-term fix until we could get it fixed. Kevin was very knowledgeable and a nice guy and didn't even me for the short term solution. I would strongly recommend him!
Where can I start? Kevin is extremely responsive and knowledgeable. Prices are also reasonable for the quality of work performed. I had an emergency leak in my basement today (had a flight to catch in a couple of hours) and denver water was taking too long to shut the water off in the house. Kevin took time out of his day off to stop by my house and temporarily fix the leak so I could make my flight later that day! The professionalism is unmatched! I will be using Kevin and his team on all sorts of projects going forward. Can’t recommend highly enough!
Kevin and his team came into my old moutain home and helped me install a new tankless water heater and a new furnace. They ran into all sorts of unknowns at the house, my well line started leaking into basement and it was just the tip of the iceberg. Kevin stayed numerous days helping me fight problems that were not even part of his installation. He is one who you can say will have your back through thick n thin! He sticks to what he says, where most people would try to stick it to you for unseen work.. His instalation was very thorough and he made sure I was happy before he left. l sure appreciate you helping me fight the fight with courage and leadership. Thank you Kevin and Team A+++

What We Do

Heat pump maintenance that helps Watkins rural homeowners avoid breakdowns and extend system lifespan

Covering filter cleaning, coil inspection, refrigerant charge verification, and electrical connection checks to keep your system running efficiently.

  • Annual Heat Pump Tune-Up

Filter cleaning, coil inspection, refrigerant check, and efficiency report

  • Heat Pump Service Agreement

Scheduled seasonal maintenance with priority scheduling and discounted repairs

Why Us

Seasonal maintenance before winter and summer prevents mid-season failures

Most heat pump breakdowns happen during peak heating or cooling demand when a small problem becomes a system failure. Regular maintenance catches those problems early.

Common Challenges

  • System fails during coldest week

Skipped maintenance means frozen coils or refrigerant leaks surface when you need heat most

  • Efficiency drops without noticing

Dirty filters and coils reduce airflow, forcing the system to run longer and waste energy

  • Unsure what maintenance is necessary

Homeowners don't know which tasks are critical versus optional or DIY-able

How We Help

  • 15-20 year system lifespan

Annual tune-ups extend heat pump life by preventing compressor damage from dirty coils

  • Refrigerant charge verified annually

Technician checks refrigerant levels to prevent low-charge efficiency loss and compressor wear

  • Filter cleaning restores airflow

Clean filters reduce strain on blower motor and improve indoor air quality

  • Electrical connections inspected

Loose connections cause system shutdowns; inspection prevents mid-season failures

  • Service agreement available

Scheduled maintenance without booking hassle, plus priority scheduling for repairs

About This Service

About this Service

Heat pump maintenance in Watkins is tailored to open-land properties and modular homes near airport approaches and E-470 access. It suits rural homeowners who need routine checks for wind exposure and loose-gravel installation conditions.

Tune-ups include filter service, indoor and outdoor coil inspection, refrigerant charge verification, electrical checks, and verification of outdoor unit mounting and vibration isolation. Airport wind patterns and loose gravel soils require inspection of mounting pads, panel fasteners, and outdoor fan operation.

Regular service keeps units operating efficiently in dry continental air and reduces nuisance trips during seasonal extremes. Any structural anchoring work or major component replacement is scheduled separately from the standard maintenance visit.

FAQ

Common questions about heat pump maintenance

What you need to know about keeping your Watkins heat pump running efficiently.

Skipped maintenance leads to dirty coils that reduce efficiency by 20-30%, refrigerant leaks that damage the compressor, and electrical connection failures during peak demand. A $150 annual tune-up prevents $2,000-4,000 compressor replacement costs and extends system lifespan from 10 years to 15-20 years.
Annual maintenance includes filter cleaning or replacement, indoor and outdoor coil inspection, refrigerant charge verification, electrical connection checks, condensate drain clearing, and thermostat calibration. Seasonal tune-ups before winter and summer catch problems before peak demand.
Heat pumps need annual maintenance at minimum, ideally seasonal tune-ups before winter heating and summer cooling seasons. Systems in rural Watkins with dry continental air and wind exposure benefit from twice-yearly inspections to prevent coil damage and refrigerant loss.
Annual heat pump tune-ups typically cost $150-250 for a single visit covering filter cleaning, coil inspection, and refrigerant check. Service agreements with two seasonal visits run $250-400 annually and include priority scheduling and discounted repairs.
The $5000 rule suggests replacing your system if repair cost multiplied by system age exceeds $5000. Example: a $500 repair on a 12-year-old system equals $6000, indicating replacement is smarter than repair. Annual maintenance prevents reaching this threshold by catching small problems early.
Homeowners can clean or replace filters monthly and clear debris from outdoor units. Professional maintenance is necessary for refrigerant checks, electrical inspections, and coil cleaning, which require specialized tools and EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
No. Maintenance is completed by independent local technicians in and around Watkins. We review your request and arrange for a suitable technician to contact you with a quote and availability.

We have known Kevin Camblin for a decade. First of all, he is fully licensed and insured. I not only hired him to install furnace in my rental, last year we hired him to install new AC in our new home. The home builder had the copper lines preinstalled (refrigerant). When Kevin finished the AC install, he found and repaired the copper line the BUILDER accidentally punctured with a nail. (this leak was in basement ceiling). Outstanding workmanship on Kevin’s part and we went with an upgrade on our new AC - reason was it is more efficient and super quiet. Give this company a call. High integrity and competitive price. AVOID THE BIG CHAINS because the others have high overhead!
I have had terrible luck with furnaces in my homes. Not only has Bear Creek Heating & Air replace one furnace but two. My first home and then my second when I moved into a townhouse. In true emergency it was the dead of winter and woke up to a home that was less than 50 degrees. Their team worked efficiently to see was available and do it for a fair and reasonable cost. I would highly recommend this company! I've had my furnace now for a couple years and zero problems!
