Had an issue with my furnace, not running correctly and I thought it was short cycling so I called Bear Creek after having another HVAC contractor looked at it. Charge me $150 and didn't really fix the problem. The owner Kevin showed up and was able to identify the issue had a short-term fix until we could get it fixed. Kevin was very knowledgeable and a nice guy and didn't even me for the short term solution. I would strongly recommend him!
Where can I start? Kevin is extremely responsive and knowledgeable. Prices are also reasonable for the quality of work performed. I had an emergency leak in my basement today (had a flight to catch in a couple of hours) and denver water was taking too long to shut the water off in the house. Kevin took time out of his day off to stop by my house and temporarily fix the leak so I could make my flight later that day! The professionalism is unmatched! I will be using Kevin and his team on all sorts of projects going forward. Can’t recommend highly enough!

What We Do

Heat pump maintenance that helps Mission Viejo homeowners prevent breakdowns and extend system lifespan to 15-20 years

Covering filter cleaning, coil inspection, refrigerant charge verification, electrical connection checks, and seasonal tune-ups before winter and summer.

  • Annual Heat Pump Tune-Up

Filter cleaning, coil inspection, refrigerant check, and efficiency report

  • Heat Pump Service Agreement

Scheduled seasonal maintenance with priority scheduling and discounted repairs

Why Us

Seasonal tune-ups before winter and summer catch small problems before they become expensive repairs

Most heat pump failures happen during peak heating or cooling season when you need the system most. Skipping annual maintenance shortens lifespan and leads to emergency breakdowns.

Common Challenges

  • Unsure what maintenance is necessary

Homeowners don't know which tasks are essential versus optional or DIY-able

  • Don't know how often to schedule

Confusion about whether maintenance should be annual, seasonal, or more frequent

  • Worried about skipping maintenance

Fear that delaying service will cause system failure during extreme cold or heat

How We Help

  • 15-20 year system lifespan

Annual maintenance extends heat pump life vs 10-12 years for neglected systems

  • Filter cleaning restores airflow

Clogged filters reduce airflow by 30-40%, forcing the system to work harder and waste energy

  • Coil inspection prevents efficiency loss

Dirty coils reduce heat transfer, dropping efficiency by 20-25% over time

  • Refrigerant check prevents compressor damage

Low refrigerant causes compressor to overheat, leading to $2,000+ replacement costs

  • Electrical connection tightening

Loose connections cause arcing and component failure, caught during annual inspection

  • Seasonal tune-ups before peak use

Pre-winter and pre-summer maintenance ensures system is ready when you need it most

About This Service

About this Service

Heat pump maintenance in Mission Viejo targets ranch-style, split-level and bi-level homes in south Aurora's established neighborhoods. It suits homeowners planning retrofits, ductwork updates or seasonal tune-ups where mature trees and yard conditions affect equipment.

Technicians inspect ductwork, measure static pressure, clean filters and coils, verify refrigerant charge and confirm thermostat control logic during each service. Mature tree shade increases debris in condensers, so outdoor unit clearance, condensate drainage and intake screening receive focused attention.

Proper maintenance preserves system efficiency and reduces mid-winter breakdown risk, but older duct systems may require sealing or balancing to achieve design CFM. Expect a maintenance report with airflow measurements and prioritized retrofit recommendations when necessary.

FAQ

Common questions about heat pump maintenance in Mission Viejo

Answers to help you understand what maintenance is needed and how often to schedule it.

Skipping maintenance shortens system lifespan from 15-20 years to 10-12 years. Dirty coils reduce efficiency by 20-25%, increasing monthly energy costs. Low refrigerant causes compressor overheating, leading to $2,000+ replacement. Most breakdowns happen during peak heating or cooling season when you need the system most. Annual tune-ups catch small problems before they become emergency repairs.
Annual maintenance includes filter cleaning, coil inspection, refrigerant charge verification, electrical connection tightening, and condensate drain clearing. Seasonal tune-ups before winter and summer ensure the system is ready for peak use. Homeowners can clean or replace filters monthly, but coil cleaning and refrigerant checks require a technician.
Heat pumps need professional maintenance once per year minimum, ideally twice per year before winter and summer. Homeowners should clean or replace filters every 1-3 months depending on usage. Annual tune-ups extend system lifespan to 15-20 years and prevent breakdowns during peak heating or cooling season.
Annual heat pump tune-ups typically cost $100-$200 for a single visit. Service agreements with two seasonal visits per year range from $150-$300 annually and often include priority scheduling and discounted repairs. The cost is offset by preventing $2,000+ compressor replacements and reducing monthly energy bills by maintaining efficiency.
The $5000 rule states that if repair cost multiplied by system age exceeds $5000, replacement is more cost-effective than repair. For example, a $500 repair on a 12-year-old system equals $6000, suggesting replacement. This rule helps homeowners decide between repairing an aging heat pump or installing a new system with 15-20 year lifespan.
Homeowners can clean or replace filters monthly and clear debris from outdoor units. However, coil cleaning, refrigerant charge verification, and electrical connection checks require a technician with proper tools and certification. DIY maintenance saves money on basic tasks, but annual professional tune-ups catch problems homeowners can't detect.
No. Maintenance is completed by independent local technicians in Mission Viejo and surrounding Arapahoe County areas. We review your maintenance request and arrange for a suitable technician to contact you with a quote and availability for seasonal tune-ups.

We have known Kevin Camblin for a decade. First of all, he is fully licensed and insured. I not only hired him to install furnace in my rental, last year we hired him to install new AC in our new home. The home builder had the copper lines preinstalled (refrigerant). When Kevin finished the AC install, he found and repaired the copper line the BUILDER accidentally punctured with a nail. (this leak was in basement ceiling). Outstanding workmanship on Kevin’s part and we went with an upgrade on our new AC - reason was it is more efficient and super quiet. Give this company a call. High integrity and competitive price. AVOID THE BIG CHAINS because the others have high overhead!
I have had terrible luck with furnaces in my homes. Not only has Bear Creek Heating & Air replace one furnace but two. My first home and then my second when I moved into a townhouse. In true emergency it was the dead of winter and woke up to a home that was less than 50 degrees. Their team worked efficiently to see was available and do it for a fair and reasonable cost. I would highly recommend this company! I've had my furnace now for a couple years and zero problems!
