Had an issue with my furnace, not running correctly and I thought it was short cycling so I called Bear Creek after having another HVAC contractor looked at it. Charge me $150 and didn't really fix the problem. The owner Kevin showed up and was able to identify the issue had a short-term fix until we could get it fixed. Kevin was very knowledgeable and a nice guy and didn't even me for the short term solution. I would strongly recommend him!
Where can I start? Kevin is extremely responsive and knowledgeable. Prices are also reasonable for the quality of work performed. I had an emergency leak in my basement today (had a flight to catch in a couple of hours) and denver water was taking too long to shut the water off in the house. Kevin took time out of his day off to stop by my house and temporarily fix the leak so I could make my flight later that day! The professionalism is unmatched! I will be using Kevin and his team on all sorts of projects going forward. Can’t recommend highly enough!
Kevin and his team came into my old moutain home and helped me install a new tankless water heater and a new furnace. They ran into all sorts of unknowns at the house, my well line started leaking into basement and it was just the tip of the iceberg. Kevin stayed numerous days helping me fight problems that were not even part of his installation. He is one who you can say will have your back through thick n thin! He sticks to what he says, where most people would try to stick it to you for unseen work.. His instalation was very thorough and he made sure I was happy before he left. l sure appreciate you helping me fight the fight with courage and leadership. Thank you Kevin and Team A+++

What We Do

Heat pump inspections that help Bennett homeowners understand system condition before making repair or replacement decisions

Covering load calculation to verify correct sizing, refrigerant charge testing, airflow measurement, electrical connection checks, and efficiency verification with temperature differential testing.

  • Pre-Installation Load Calculation

Manual J calculation confirms correct system size for your home's heating and cooling load

  • Heat Pump Performance Inspection

Airflow measurement, refrigerant testing, and efficiency verification with detailed report

Why Us

Comprehensive inspection with load calculation and efficiency testing

Most heat pump problems go undetected until the system fails during extreme weather — inspection reveals hidden issues before they become emergency repairs.

Common Challenges

  • System performance declining slowly

Heat pump gradually loses efficiency over time without obvious warning signs until bitter cold snaps expose the problem

  • Uncertain if repair is worth the cost

Without professional assessment, homeowners can't tell if a $1,200 repair extends system life or just delays inevitable replacement

  • Pre-purchase inspection reveals issues

Buying a Bennett farmhouse without heat pump inspection means inheriting someone else's deferred maintenance and hidden problems

How We Help

  • Load calculation confirms correct sizing

Manual J calculation verifies the system matches your home's heating and cooling load, preventing short-cycling and efficiency loss

  • Refrigerant charge testing reveals leaks

Pressure testing and superheat measurement detect slow refrigerant leaks that reduce heating capacity by 20-30% before you notice

  • Airflow measurement identifies duct issues

CFM testing at registers reveals blocked ducts or undersized returns that force the system to work harder and waste energy

  • Temperature differential testing proves output

Supply and return air temperature spread confirms the system delivers rated heating and cooling capacity

  • Electrical connection inspection prevents failures

Loose terminals and corroded contacts cause intermittent operation and eventual compressor failure during peak demand

About This Service

About this Service

A Heat Pump Inspection in Bennett is aimed at farmhouses, manufactured homes, and rural residences east of Aurora where harsh prairie winters and wind can stress systems. It suits owners who need a condition check before winter or before purchasing rural property.

Inspectors evaluate packaged units and split systems for refrigerant charge, compressor amp draw, and duct connections common to manufactured homes. They also assess outdoor unit exposure to wind and dust, check pad leveling on sandy loam soils, and note whether high-capacity units are operating within HSPF expectations.

The written report provides measured values, maintenance priorities, and an estimate range for repairs or replacement. If the property requires geothermal assessment, a separate land-availability and soil-permeability review is recommended.

FAQ

Common questions about heat pump inspection in Bennett

What to expect from inspection and how to use the findings

Efficiency drops 5-10% annually without maintenance. A system operating at 60% efficiency wastes $600-800 per year in Bennett's harsh prairie winters. Delayed inspection means you miss slow refrigerant leaks and electrical issues that cause compressor failure during bitter cold snaps, turning a $300 inspection into a $4,000-6,000 emergency replacement.
Inspection with load calculation and efficiency testing typically costs $150-300 depending on system type and property size. Pre-purchase inspections for farmhouses and large lot homes may cost more due to travel time and system complexity. Price includes detailed report with findings and recommendations.
Annual inspection before heating season catches problems early. Systems over 10 years old benefit from twice-yearly inspection in spring and fall. Pre-purchase inspection is essential when buying a Bennett property with an existing heat pump to verify condition and identify deferred maintenance.
Load calculation to verify correct sizing, refrigerant charge testing with pressure gauges, airflow measurement at supply registers, electrical connection inspection, temperature differential testing between supply and return air, and visual inspection of outdoor unit and indoor air handler. Report includes efficiency metrics and maintenance needs list.
Multiply system age by repair cost. If the result exceeds $5000, replacement is usually more cost-effective than repair. Example: 12-year-old system needing $600 repair = $7200, suggesting replacement. This rule helps Bennett homeowners decide between repair and replacement after inspection reveals issues.
Cold-climate air source heat pumps rated for -15°F to -25°F operation work effectively in Bennett winters. Inspection verifies your system has adequate heating capacity for extreme weather. Older models without cold-climate ratings may struggle below 20°F, requiring backup heat that increases operating costs.
No. Inspection is completed by independent local technicians familiar with Bennett rural properties and Adams County building stock. We review your request and arrange for a suitable technician to contact you with a quote and availability.

We have known Kevin Camblin for a decade. First of all, he is fully licensed and insured. I not only hired him to install furnace in my rental, last year we hired him to install new AC in our new home. The home builder had the copper lines preinstalled (refrigerant). When Kevin finished the AC install, he found and repaired the copper line the BUILDER accidentally punctured with a nail. (this leak was in basement ceiling). Outstanding workmanship on Kevin’s part and we went with an upgrade on our new AC - reason was it is more efficient and super quiet. Give this company a call. High integrity and competitive price. AVOID THE BIG CHAINS because the others have high overhead!
I have had terrible luck with furnaces in my homes. Not only has Bear Creek Heating & Air replace one furnace but two. My first home and then my second when I moved into a townhouse. In true emergency it was the dead of winter and woke up to a home that was less than 50 degrees. Their team worked efficiently to see was available and do it for a fair and reasonable cost. I would highly recommend this company! I've had my furnace now for a couple years and zero problems!
